Tara Wilkinson
Fine Art Photographer, Artist, Creatrice
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Tara Wilkinson is an award-winning photographer based in Prince Edward County.
Tara has been taking photographs since she was 11 years old when she won her first camera as a papergirl for The Toronto Star. Primarily self-taught, Tara has studied photography at Centennial College, Ryerson University and Sir Sandford Fleming College's Haliburton School of the Arts. Extensive travel throughout her career in corporate communications … initially with national and international hotel companies and later with her own successful creative, design and communications studio, Fire Engine Inc., resulted in opportunities to shoot the world over. Since 1998, Tara has had many solo photography exhibitions in Toronto and Prince Edward County. Following the joyous birth of her daughter, she launched Love Nest Photography in 2004, offering women pregnancy portraits. Over three years, Tara photographed over 60 expectant mothers ... helping them to "Celebrate life to the Fullest". The "nest" in her business name sparked an idea for further creative exploration. Tara's AMORE exhibition was part of the 2017 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival in Toronto. Her images were showcased at the Joseph D. Carrier Gallery in Toronto. “AMORE” celebrated not only her love of photography, but also her love of Italy’s astounding beauty, culture and people. Since 2010, Tara has won several Awards and Honourable Mentions for her photography. In 2016, her image "In the Light of Loneliness" (Venice, Italy) won First Place honours and the People's Choice Award at the CLIC Eastern Ontario Photography Show. In 2020, her image "The Sea is a Harsh Mistress" (Tickle Cove, Newfoundland) won a Juror's Award at the Art in the County Online Juried Exhibition and Sale. Tara and her family moved to Prince Edward County in 2007 where they opened two galleries in a magnificent barn and restored chicken coop on their farm. Today, her fine art photography is displayed and sold through their new contemporary ANDARA Gallery, also located on site. |
